How do three Aussies come to own an organic pizzeria in Phoenix? Good question.
Our Base story starts about seven years ago when Rossco transferred from Australia to the Napa Valley to sell wine. In one of his many business trips, he visited Phoenix where he met a lovely young lady (now his wife). After moving to Phoenix for love, Ross continued to sell wine to local restaurants. Back in Australia, Carlee and her husband Michael (Rossco’s Sister and Brother in-law) were working in corporate roles but looking for something else. On one of their annual visits to Phoenix, the trio got talking about starting a small family business. Michael had a passion for food and more specifically pizza after working in a Italian restaurant through college. Carlee had a passion for organic, farm to table produce and supporting other local, family owned businesses. Rossco wanted to use his years of experience in the wine industry and his love of chatting to create both a shmick wine list and a great, family atmosphere. By putting together their experience, passion and desire for a small, family owned restaurant, Base Pizzeria was born.
And now, along with the amazing Base team, Rossco, Michael and Carlee are proud to bring you a fresh, organic pizzeria in a friendly and fun atmosphere.
